Welcome

Thank you for taking an interest in this crucial leadership role at Liverpool City Council.

The council is committed to delivering a fundamental improvement and transformation programme on behalf of our residents. To achieve this, we are looking for people who have a strong track record in delivery, improvement and transformation.

This is a city that requires leaders with vision, passion and dedication – candidates must be able to demonstrate how they inspire and deliver transformation. Our Mayor has reflected that ‘for too long we have been an organisation that has imposed decisions on communities and have done things in a way that is not acceptable. This has to change.’

I have been impressed by the commitment of everyone, from staff to members, partners and business, to get on with the job of improvement. Our new Council Plan sets out not only a bold vision for the future, but also the detail of what needs to happen between 2022 and 2025 to make it a reality.

This is rooted in community consultation, as well as the findings from the government intervention and commissioners’ reports. And it is aligned with our improvement plan, developed with commissioners, and the wider City Plan, developed in collaboration with our partners.

As a council, we must have a laser-like focus on our finances, improving the quality of our services and in particular our customer service, and becoming a better employer.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reset the dial.

The goal is to make changes which will improve the lives of residents now and for generations to come. As a council, we must be bold, creative and build on the best that this city has to offer.

Please take time to consider if you have what it takes to be part of Liverpool’s success story.

If you have, I look forward to receiving your application.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Lewis - New Chief Executive
